How do I know my Android phone is free of keylogger / virus / nasty ware etc.?

Hi all,

I have been downloading and running apps from Android market, but how do I know whether a keylogger (e.g.) will be grabbed and installed in the process?

Also, is it worth running an antivirus app? e.g. AVG Antivirus app from the Android market?
