KARACHI (PPI): Pakistan squash team recorded a convincing 3/0 win over Austria in WSF Men?s World Team Squash Championship at the Ahorn-Sport Park in the city of Paderborn, Germany.The 23rd staging of the World Squash Federation event the first senior world championship since the IOC announcement that Squash is on the shortlist for Olympic inclusion in 2020 is taking place in Germany for the first time. Seeded for the first time as low as 12th position in the history of the event, Pakistan squash players won all of their matches against 25/32 seeds Austria.Lahore based Yasir Butt won the first match against Leopold Czaska by 11-6, 11-4, 11-7 score in only 21 minutes. Pakistan ace squash player Aamir Atlas Khan was taken to full stretch of the game by Aqeel Rehman before the former recorded a 11-9, 10-12, 11-8, 10-12, 11-1 win in 53 minutes to seal the victory for Pakistan.Meanwhile, Nasir Iqbal won the dead-rubber match against Jakob Dirnberger by 12-10, 11-2, 11-2 score in 25 minutes to end the tie on a winning note. Pakistan will now face fifth seed Malaysia, who defeated Denmark 3/0, in their pool match.
